Three reproductions of an urban scene in Cracolândia, São Paulo, gradually fade to black and white. At the center of the image, stuffed animals hang by shoelaces from electrical wires — childlike figures that symbolically evoke the state of life in that space: children in suspension. As the sequence progresses, the plush toys lose their color, as does the rest of the image, suggesting a process of invisibilization of populations marginalized by society. The work stands as a brief yet powerful reminder of the neglect and ineffectiveness of public authorities in addressing worsening public health crises.
