Three ears — black, beige, and white — are clipped with wooden clothespins in a simple yet powerful image. The act of “pinching” the ear suggests silence, censorship, or even sensory overload. Can we really turn off our hearing in a world that’s too loud? This silent piece makes us listen — or rather, reflect on what goes unheard. What do we choose to ignore? What are we conditioned to silence? Its visual humor carries discomfort: listening is not neutral; it’s filtered, selective, and often denied. By varying the ears’ colors, the artist also raises social and racial questions: Who gets to speak? Who is heard? And who is systematically silenced?
