Orbeez Vinho, 2021. Mineral pigment on paper. 80 × 60 × 8 cm
Playfulness, abstraction, and multiple interpretations define the photographic series “Orbeez.” Using gel beads that expand upon contact with water, the images explore visual perception through the spatial occupation created by their settling. The enlargement of the multicolored spheres forms compositions that invite the viewer to follow the movement and relationships between the elements. The work offers a sensory experience: at times evoking shapes from the concrete world, at others encouraging pure contemplation of color, transparency, and light. The title, referencing the toy, triggers childhood memories and the fascination of watching the beads grow in water. Through photography, playfulness merges with the optical potential of the image, offering the viewer a range of visual impressions marked by vibrant color intensity.
