Photograph of painted stones carefully placed one by one with tweezers to form the iconic sidewalk. Ipanema, in Rio de Janeiro, has a boardwalk similar to Copacabana’s but with a unique Portuguese stone pattern. While Copacabana features black-and-white waves, Ipanema displays sinuous waves in shades of cream, brown, and gray, reflecting the neighborhood’s relaxed and elegant vibe. This handcrafted pavement is made by manually fitting small stones, combining durability and beauty, and is a historic and tourist hallmark of the city.
